Folks, I’m sitting here, matter of fact, you are too, blogging mine and your hearts out and it’s like, nobody hears us but us. You ever thought about that? Not to diminish our own importance but I want you to think about it. Why the hell is Ricky, the sweater vest wearing dude, getting all this applause? And you might say I’m hatin’ and all. I am. True dat, true dat. But in my book, I think all of us make heaps more sense than him and nobody’s getting that but us.
Like, would it help if I wore a plaid skirt or something preppy like that to get the kinda attention he’s getting? I do have a couple. Should I expand my line? I’m so very deeply disturbed over this following he’s got that ain’t following me. Seriously. I mean, what’s it gonna take? I believe some of what he believes. Like, I’d stay home and bake bread with seven kids if I had a husband who brought in a couple of million annually like he does. He damn well better want me at home after birthing all them kids. I would be real content to keep house and greet Hubby at the door with a tight belt around my waist like June Cleaver and follow up behind his ass with a poodle while we went shopping. I’d be more inclined to being charitable if I wasn’t trying to figure out a way to bring in the kinda dough he’s banking. Shit, that’s the stuff a good woman’s made of.
And you wanna know a well-hidden secret? (Pause and sigh) I thought, (A deep ass sigh this time) I just might vote for him. I know. I know. But something terribly wrong happened. (Palm on my chest as my mouth trembles…Give me a second…) He started talking and folks, he ain’t shut up since. I won’t go into the whole birth control thing. I ain’t mad at him like most folks, simply ’cause I don’t feel like it. Shit, after watching a hundred debates, my ass is tired and so is my brain. If you’ve been following up behind him or catching snippets from his mind, it would be too exhausting to get uptight every time something slipped from that little mouth of his. To tell you the truth, I’ve worn myself out just by thinking about him. And where did this guy hail from anyhow? The Old Testament?

As far as I can tell, It’s just you and me Tots
Sure feels like it, huh…
The Old Testament?
Superb.
Love you, Tots. Xx
Definitely, this guy’s from another time and place.
Love ya back!
Again….
Well done, TM!
Thanks, Jots.
Thank God I do not watch robots crazy-talking (debating does not fit what they do).
You’re right about that. Watching is like being a part of a circus.
“Palm on my chest as my mouth trembles…Give me a second… The Old Testament?” Totsy, YOU ROCK!
Seriously, for a second, I couldn’t figure out who Ricky was and why you had to write about him. Then I saw your ptg, spot on, Girl, spot on!
Ricky’s what close friends and relatives call him, when he’s not playing politician. I figure I’d best chum up before he starts calling me a snob for have a degree.
I think you finally got something wrong my friend. I suspect the OT is far to modern for the Senator, he would be sure to find something to take issue with in there. Perhaps it would the liberal treatment of women (they were allowed to own property you know). Might be the commandments on the treatment of Slaves (they were freed after certain years of service, allowed to marry). Perhaps it would be the commandments to not keep back wages from the workers. One never knows, but I suspect even the OT would be far and away to liberal for Mr. Rick.
So, you’re saying Wifey’s name possibly not be on the deed? That his children will be liberated from his rule at 18? Hmm…
Have mercy no indeed. I am saying Rick, is following another Theology entirely. One firmly grounded in grinding down beneath his heel and setting the devil and everyone else behind him. The Old Testament would be entirely too liberal for him, he comes from a different and far older moment in time.
Totsy, go ahead and vote for him. If I get to vote in the primary (and as a Republican registered and legal I should), I will vote for him too. Truth is, that damn fool can’t win anything. And my Obama will slide right on past his ugly sweater-wearing ass. I don’t care what his views on birth control are. I don’t use any and it’s working fine for me. If I get pregnant at 66, I’ll make a fortune from it so who cares. You would not go following any dude around with a poodle. That’s a “slap yo mama” kinda tale, Girl and you ain’t foolin’ me.
Are you beginning to feel better? You’re still as spicy as ever.
Nah, I’m not having a conniption over the birth control either but we’re probably in the minority. At any rate, other women need those options and there are so many other bones to pick with this guy.
He’d never get the majority of women voters anyway. I think he’s just an old soul, far behind his time.
I think he said he was from the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. What I would give for a politician to just stand up, without polls, without needing to pander to voters and just say, “this is what I stand for and this is what I believe and if you don’t like it, screw you and go vote for someone else”. Saying stuff to win my vote whether it’s from the right OR the left really pisses me off. Great post. You weren’t REALLY thinking about voting for him….were you?
.
PKC
No, I wasn’t going to vote for him. I did, however, think he may have more sense than the others since, in the beginning, he didn’t get as much attention as Mittens and Newty. But then, he started talking, and as you can see, the rest is history…
Mr. Santorum, to his credit, lives his faith. He has a very sick little girl, and he walked away from his campaign to be with her. He also lost a child a few years back. It is quite a story.
My first choice was Mr. Cain, but he was smeared by the good ol’ boys in the GOP. I wish Allen West would run, but as of now, “Ricky” has my support. Thing is, we Americans only get to vote for candidates that are “pre”selected for us, and that goes for both parties.
He walked away from his campaign to be with his sick daughter?
And? That’s what he was supposed to do. I won’t dispute his faith. I’m glad he has it ’cause he won’t be getting that presidential seat.
But I’m gonna think positive about the pre-selections we’ve got to choose from otherwise.
He & his wife would also have opted for a late term abortion of the 19-week fetus they named Gabriel, although as it turns out he was spontaneously miscarried.
“Rick Santorum did tell the Inquirer that “if that had to be the call, we would have induced labor if we had to,” under the understanding that the fetus was going to die anyway and intervening would save Karen’s life. ” (http://www.salon.com/2012/01/06/karen_santorum_did_not_have_an_abortion/)
If they had had to make that call, I totally support them saving the mother, rather than letting both mother and fetus die to prove a point.
Where I do have a problem is them taking a position that *they* have the right to judge other families who may have to make a similar, heartbreaking call. To try to legislate delaying tactics that might cause another woman, in Karen Santorum’s condition, to actually lose her life. There’s a term for people like that, and it isn’t “living one’s faith.”
IMO,. Jon Huntsman would have made a decent President, or John McCain back in 2000, but you are dead-on with candidates being pre-selected for us.
Bev, I respect your views and I am glad to see that OI am not the only one that sees that the election game is rigged!
Eric Hoffer has a great quote that would help that poor man find home who’s slipping so far to the right that he’s likely forgotten if he’s half-way away or half-way home. The quote is here if you feel like peeking: http://souldipper.wordpress.com/2011/03/29/simplicity-a-friend/
Maybe we ought to tell Rick about Eric’s very thin little book that US President’s used to discuss with this self-educated man.
Thank you for sharing the link. I will enjoy Hoffer as I read more about him. Appropriate quote also.
I love this line: “And where did this guy hail from anyhow? The Old Testament?” You’ve hit the nail on the head. You’ve got a clever twist on what many of us are feeling and you’re speaking the truth. Love it so much, Totsy. Keep shining a light on all that is insane about our world. We love you for it!
Thanks, Monica.
I am your mama and I am saying, don’t you dare entertain the thought of voting for this guy!!!
Shame on you!!!
Mwwwwaaaaaabwwaaaa!!!
Besides the sweater-vest thing, he has a nice head of hair, too. *trying hard to think of something else nice to say about him, failing*
I’m from PA, from a conservative county, and still have many friends there. From what my friends say, most Pennsylvanians, libs and cons alike, *loathe* the guy and feel embarrassed by him.
That’s interesting. Seems that Mitt’s folks in Michigan feel the same way about him.
Laught laugh laugh. There has been plenty to laugh at during the past 20 or so Republican debates, but I think this post has made me laught the hardest. He does just keep talking til you don’t wnat to vote for him doesn’t he?
He playing to the audience and stuff is coming out all wrong. There’s no integrity in that.
Tots, what am I going to do with you!!! This is freakin’ hilarious! LOL! I just envisioned a version of me, greeting him at the door, and trust me, I’m not a fan. He talks too much, and if you listen long enough, you will quickly realize that it’s much ado about nothing. (Yeah, you better believe I wouldn’t be working if I had seven kids. The man that manages to eke out a deal like that best’ a be paying for it!)
Girl, girl, girl….I can’t even take all the credit for making you laugh. Ricky was so helpful in this collaboration, I must take my scarf off to him.
Once the Republican Primary is over, let the real games begin. We won’t remember who this guy even was…
You’re right. Even Dan Quayle has faded in memory.
As a Christian, I can’t vote for Obama because He has done a lot of things and supports a lot of things God does not. Killing babies in the womb is truly not something God, our Creator condones. It is evil. Approving of men marrying men and women marrying women is not something God approves of. Thinking Government is all supreme, even over God Himself is not something God approves of. I’m a black person who refuses to vote for anyone, black or white who blatantly goes against God.
Some Christians put their politics before what God says is right, and that’s not right. Connie
http://7thandvine.wordpress.com/
I understand, Constance. I have some conservative views in some areas. I just don’t know how much what someone else believes should interplay into other people’s personal decisions. No politician, in my opinion, will do the right thing all the time. And let’s not forget that presidents do not male decisions solo.
What I don’t get with Ricky is how he uses the Bible out of context in his political views. What does having a college education have to do with Obama making people into his image. That’s Bible talk. This is the same kind of talk that slave masters used to manipulate and make slaves feel inferior and not want to be free as they, themselves, were. Where will Ricky’s rhetoric put us? I certainly don’t want a Hitler way of governing what I can and can’t do as it pertains to my faith or body.
I believe people should be consistent in their faith whether. We are all political beings with beliefs. Some Christian, some not. At some point, we have to question if our belief in God and His will fits perfectly with those of our political leaders.
If in church, we believe and act one way, but outside in the public arena, we believe and vote another way seems wrong to me. We should not suppress our Christian beliefs. I can’t, not even when it comes to politics. I always asks, is the killing of babies in the womb what you want, Lord?
Is men marrying men and women marrying women something you want Lord? Connie
Depending on who’s asking the Lord, the answer will be what that person believes anyway, so it’s kind of subjective. I don’t believe in abortions but I can’t very inject my ideals on a woman who becomes pregnant as a result of rape. I can’t tell a parent whose 13 year old daughter has been molested that abortion is wrong. I really hope your ‘consistent’ isn’t that black and white.
It’s either ok to kill the innocent child in the womb or it’s not. What do you think Jesus would say? Connie
Firstly, it’s presumptuous to think, as westerners often do, that one must be a follower of Christianity. Secondly, Jesus is for life, not death. Life is more than physicality. Imposing what I believe for someone is simply not my call and I won’t judge either way. Can you even imagine that those situations are akin to death for some females? Jesus knows the soul of people far better than you and I could ever understand. Unlike people, He forgives. I can only assume what He would say to a child or woman in those situations.
I know Jesus and I know He would not condone the killing of the innocent in or out of the womb. He is the Author of life. And, Jesus would not condone marriage other than that between and man and woman as ordained by God. Thank you for sharing. Connie
Good to know. And likewise.
Yeah, Tots, I think this guy got left behind by Moses, you know? He just couldn’t keep the sheep separated from the goats, I guess.
You’re too funny.
I understand he supports traditional birth control – the dime held between the knees. Geez! Is he totally out of touch or what? Maybe we should invent a birth control pill for men and feed it to them via IV.
His logic is pretty warped. Yes, very out of touch. I think he belongs in the pulpit. Not politics. And even then, that’s questionable.
Your republican cadidates suck anyway!
Can’t say I disagree.
OMG…I am with you…Santorum is scary!!! Not a bad guy but never the leader of the free world!!!
He’s a bit Hitlerish to me. The pulpit may be more appropriate since he already has a following.
I agree with you 100%…I didn’t want to get Political but I am back in!!! Have a great day…
I have to say that I have a HUGE problem with “Christians” who follow the Old Testament. Ummmm. That’s pre “Christianity.” The New Testatment, gave us Christianity, which last I looked preaches love, forgiveness, acceptance. The Old Testament is not the book for Christians. It is the book for Jews (who don’t take it literally EITHER).
