“Sometimes I lie awake at night, and ask, ‘Where have I gone wrong?’ Then a voice says to me, ‘This is going to take more than one night.’
Charles M. Schulz
He was a dumb ass kinda stupid. Went and stole that woman’s car soon after the double glass doors closed behind to get her evening meal in the grocery deli. Low down times stupid! Fiddled and faddled the wires and backed the ole Beamer from the space she’d parked it. Drove it clear outta the lot.
I stood behind the desk when he handed over the paperwork, trying to register the damn thing in his name! Next thing I know, the po-po comes busting in like we’re making a drug and cash exchange, yelling “Freeze! Put your goddamn hands up!”

Oh, what a story! Totsy, you are so good. Now I want to know what happened next!
Thanks, Monica.
Can you imagine what other shenanigans this guy’s come up with before this?
Fools rush in where angels dare to tread!
He wanted to drive legal. Probably had a date that night, not to mention that they’d be going Dutch.
I thought the term po-po was a Miami thing. Callem “tro” too. (Metro Dade). There are police departments for each incorporated city within Miami Dade county(32), the City of Miami itself being the largest. Then there is the county police which covers all the unincorporated areas. They are pretty trigger happy here. They would have easily found a way to gun down yo boah here. 7 questionable police shootings by just City of Miami cops last year ongoing. Usual scenario: 19 cops shot suspect 143 times as he charged them in a drunken rage with an umbrella. No investigation will be held as police feared for their lives and followed protocols.
I think Po-Po is a southern thing.
And this Po-Po over-reacted the whole thing. I think this happened in Florida, around the corner from you. Be careful.
Yep! Some really are that dumb-butt lacking in God-given-grey-goo!
I don’t think he got all the way through the Pre-K program. I don’t know why. It was free,
Hi Totsy. I’m visiting from Linda’s blog (The Good The Bad etc…). You have a really nice blog. Enjoyed reading your stories and seeing your art work. You are so talented.
Hi, Myrna. Thanks for hanging out with me. I hope the regular folk around here made you feel at home and all. Yeah, I tried to decorate it up real good ’cause I was expecting some folk from over Linda’s way. Did you smell the vanilla candles? I try to keep it fresh-smelling.
Thanks for your kindness. Drop in anytime.
I love the phrase “Low down times stupid.” You said so much with so few words! This is awesome, Totsy!
I also love the “street” scene. Your use of colors is wonderful.
Thought you would catch on to that phrase. We’ve got some real doozies out here, you know.
Glad you enjoyed the story and the painting.
Fantastic story!!! You did a great job!
Thank you, Blue Hills.
This guy is now international and I was a witness to tell the story and all. I’m now in the Quik-Trip Witness Protection Program.
The “po po?” I love it!
I take it you’ve never heard of the po-po. They’re at a station near you. At least, I hope so.
Unbelievable what you can do with 100 words. Two entire lives going up in smoke (potentially) in the space of 100 words! Outstanding accomplishment that included outrage, evil heart, sneakiness, poor ol’ lady left in the lurch, unwitting car tag worker at the courthouse, and same ol’, same ol’ out of the po-po!
At least the woman will get her car back. I can’t believe some people. Can you imagine going in in a store for your dinner and returning only to discover you don’t have a ride home?
I suspect he’s a rookie po-po who’s been watching repeats of Miami Vice.
You’re giving me a real education, tots. And my greetings to Mr Charles M Schulz. I dips me lid to him.
Narelle, you’ve heard of the “Peanuts” comic strip or Charlie Brown, right? He’s the creator of that strip.
What education am I giving to you, exactly? I know nothing.
This is your rendering? It’s lovely. The story, in all its crudeness, is lovely, too.
Hi, Cara. Yes, I created the artwork. I don’t why the crudeness but having a loveliness behind it, well, I’m encourage evermore.
Fun fun.
Cool story….But ya know what? I’m really liking your art work a lot more and enjoying your style
Hansi
Thanks. I’ll keep writing though since that’s what this blog was design for. I had an art blog a few years ago but I don’t know if my art says as much. But I get the whole visual thing. I think art school made me wanna know why something was created, even though I’ve never cared for all the other rhetoric.
–Tots,
Your Art. Your words. Your wit. Your distinct voice.
Everything you do, you do w/ great style.
Xxx Kiss from MN.
And a kiss back to you, from down here.
Thank you for your loving support. Each day of writing brings a learning experience. I’m glad such powerful writers as yourself understand and enjoy that style.

That was great. More…more..
Thanks, Lorre Lee. I like to dabble in flash fiction from time to time. Gets the brain juices flowing.
I don’t know how you do it, over and over. But that’s not really true. I know, you’re just a fabulous writer who can do with 100 words what most of us do with two – no, make that three – times that amount. Thanks, Totsy!
Funny you say that. When I read other 100 word stories, I’d think, “I’ll never try that. I could never do that. Why even do a story that short?” Now, I know why. It’s fun. It’s good writing practice. It’s also a way to finish something when longer pieces aren’t working.
I’m glad you like it. Thanks.
You’re so brilliant at this (and everything), Totsy!
Love your stories.
I encourage you to continue writing–it is very rewarding to accomplish writing a novel. I must warn you though that writing is addictive. I always wanted to write a book so one day I sat down and started. After I finished it I decided I had a lot more to say and the next thing I know I have written 22 books and am half way done with the 23rd.

Thanks, Rich. Writing is always on my mind. I’ve completed my book of flash fiction and outlining my novel now. Life’s been so busy but it’s smoothing out.
